جمهورية جزر فيجي.. هي دولة جزرية في ميلانيزيا في جنوب المحيط الهادئ نحو 2000 كلم شمال شرق الجزيرة الشمالية لنيوزيلندا. فأقرب جاراتها هي فانواتو إلى الغرب و كاليدونيا الجديدة التابعة لفرنسا إلى الجنوب الغربي و كرماديك التابعة لنيوزيلندا إلى الجنوب الشرقي و تونغا إلى الشرق و واليس وفوتونا التابعة لفرنسا و ساموا إلى الشمال الشرقي وتوفالو إلى الشمال.
تشكلت أغلب جزر فيجي من خلال النشاط البركاني حوالي 150 مليون سنة مضت. لا تزال بعض الأنشطة الجوفية الحرارية ملحوظة في جزيرتي فانوا ليفو و تافيون. فيجي مأهولة بالسكان منذ الألف الثاني قبل الميلاد. تضم البلاد أرخبيلاً من أكثر من 332 جزيرة منها 110 مأهولة بصفة دائمة، و أكثر من 500 من الجزر الصغيرة التي تبلغ مساحتها تقريباً 18,300 كم2. الجزيرتان الرئيسيتان هما فيتي ليفو و فانوا ليفو و تضمان 87 ٪ من السكان البالغين 850,000 نسمة تقريباً. تضم الأولى سوفا عاصمة فيجي و أكبر مدنها. يعيش معظم سكان فيجي على سواحل فيتي ليفو، إما في سوفا أو في مراكز حضرية صغيرة. أما قلب جزبرة فيتي ليفو فالكثافة السكانية فيه ضئيلة جداً بسبب تضاريس الجزيرة.
Republic of the Fiji Islands .. is an island nation in Melanesia in the South Pacific about 2,000 kilometers north-east of the North Island of New Zealand. The closest neighbors are Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the west of New France to the south-west and Kermadak subsidiary of New Zealand to the south-east and east of Tonga and Wallis and Futuna subsidiary of France and Samoa to the northeast and Tuvalu to the north.
Most of the Fiji Islands were formed by volcanic activity about 150 million years ago. Some geothermal activities are still noticeable on the islands of Vanua Levu and Tavion. Fiji inhabited since the second millennium BC. The country comprises an archipelago of more than 332, including 110 uninhabited island on a permanent basis, and more than 500 small islands with an area of approximately 18,300 km 2. Main two islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu and Tdman almost 87% of the adult population 850,000 inhabitants. First of Fiji's capital Suva and its largest city. Most of Fiji's population lives on the coast of Viti Levu, either in Suva or in smaller urban centers. The heart Dzbrh Viti Levu where population density is very low because of the topography of the island.
