Subtropical Storm Ana
When the GOES 13 satellite captured this image at 18:30 UTC (2:30 p.m. local time), the first named storm of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season was beginning to take shape off the coast of the Carolinas. Ana's formation on May 7 makes this the earliest subtropical storm to form since 2003, when another storm (coincidentally also named Ana) emerged on April 20
