مزارع الرز في الفليبين
توصل سكان هذه المناطق إلى فكرة إقامة مزارعهم على جوانب الجبال في صورة مُدرجات تتماشى مع منحنيات الجبال بصورة في منتهى الجمال! تقع هذه الأعجوبة الهندسية المدهشة في مقاطعة إيوغاو في جزيرة لوزون في الفلبين، وتغطي 10,360 كيلومتر مربع على جوانب الجبال! وتُسمّى مزارع باناوي Banaue Rice Terraces، أو مزارع إيوغاو كما يسميها السكان المحليون. يفتخر الفلبينيون بمزارع باناوي دوناً عن باقي عجائب الدنيا السبع لأنهم يقولون أنهم لم يجبروا على بنائها مثل العجائب الأخرى، بل قاموا بابتكارها والعمل فيها بمحض رغبتهم تمتد من ارتفاع 762 متر حتى ارتفاع 1,500 متر على منحدرات الجبال، بأيدي الإنسان وبوسائل بدائية منذ 2,000 عام!! ولا زالت التربة حتى يومنا هذا خصبة دون أن تتآكل أو تتأثر بمرور كل هذا الزمن.
